

At the invitation of the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron to the One Forest Summit in Gabon, the COSMETIC VALLEY cluster represented by Christophe Masson participated alongside Shirley Billot, founder of the Martinican brand Kadalys, in round tables and debates on the issues preservation and sustainable management of forests.

During the 2nd day, COSMETIC VALLEY announced the implementation of a new development tool: a financial allocation of more than 500 k€ for the study of forest cosmetics in the Congo Basin (Central Africa). This funding, carried by the COSMETIC VALLEY endowment fund, will allow the allocation of scholarships for the realization, on site, of internships, doctoral theses and post-doctorates in the field of cosmetopoeia.
This commitment by members of the French cosmetics industry aims to allow the study and inventory, by local players, of plant genetic resources from the forest and their traditional uses for the protection and beauty of the skin and hair. It is a question, beyond the inventory and the conservation of still oral traditions, of contributing to the preservation of the heritage of Africa and of making it, in the respect of the Nagoya protocol and on the initiative of the actors premises, a lever for local economic development.
