New study: COSMETIC VALLEY highlights the socio-economic impact of the cosmetics industry in Europe

On March 18, 2025, COSMETIC VALLEY joined members of The Value of Beauty Alliance in Brussels to represent the cosmetics industry before European authorities. It was an important day, punctuated by a discussion with Ms. Roberta METSOLA, President of the European Parliament, and marked the publication of a new study highlighting the strategic impact of our sector within the EU27.

A key ecosystem for the European economy

During the press conference, Christophe MASSON, Managing Director of COSMETIC VALLEY, recalled the essential role of the cosmetics industry in the local and European economy.

A structuring sector for the territories

The cosmetics industry is a true driving force for development, bringing together businesses, research laboratories, and training centers across Europe. Its dynamism contributes to strengthening value chains and creating jobs, with the valuable support of public authorities.

The key role of SMEs

SMEs represent 90% of companies in the sector in France and play a central role in the European economic fabric. They actively contribute to employment and generate essential tax revenues.

A strong social impact

Our sector has a significant ripple effect: for every 100 direct jobs created, 62 additional jobs are supported in Europe. Furthermore, the cosmetics industry is a promising sector for young people and women, with 72% of the sector employed by women and 240,000 young people under the age of 25.

Clusters, drivers of innovation and competitiveness

Clusters and competitiveness hubs, such as COSMETIC VALLEY, play a strategic role in fostering collaboration and innovation. Initiatives such as #Go4Cosmetics and the #GlobalCosmeticsCluster illustrate the importance of European and international synergies for the development of the sector.

A rapidly evolving sector

With appropriate support and increased commitment from European institutions, the cosmetics industry will continue to grow, create jobs and strengthen Europe's competitiveness on the global stage.
