Marc-Antoine Jamet, President of Cosmetic Valley, recalled that the 2021 financial year had seen the presence of the division on all fronts. A majority of events have thus returned to face-to-face events, such as the Cosmetic 360 show last October.

A number of actions have been undertaken to meet the challenges facing the sector:

The need to play together

It has become imperative to succeed in the ecological and digital transitions of the sector and to deal with economic turbulence.

This is why, in partnership with the public authorities, Cosmetic Valley wants to extend the momentum launched thanks to Agnès Pannier-Runacher, then Minister of Industry, by creating a sector committee specific to the sector, at the States General of cosmetics and at the Summit organized by the cluster.

Cosmetic Valley will also continue its actions to federate its members by supporting them internationally and on innovation projects. Finally, it will continue its work on the values of our industry to promote products made in France.

Heading for Europe

The opening of a branch in Brussels and the launch of an S3 platform bringing together around Cosmetic Valley other European clusters that have chosen to bet on cosmetics, illustrate the cluster's desire to be the spearhead innovation and the cosmetics industry in Europe, even though there will be many legal deadlines (evolution of Reach and cosmetic regulations) there in 2022.

The necessary deepening of regional cooperation

Like the partnerships set up this year with Guyana, where Cosmetic Valley inaugurated a branch which will be an asset in its strategy in favor of biodiversity, soon in Martinique, and with the Ile-de-France region, first economic region of the continent, other territories should follow in 2022 and negotiations have already been initiated in this direction in recent months with Hauts-de-France.

The recognition of the cosmetics sector by other regions will make it possible to set up specific action programs in connection with the expertise present in the territories: companies, research laboratories, schools.

Marc-Antoine Jamet said: “ The period is difficult, but it can and must also bring opportunities. We must be activists, not wait-and-sees. The city of Rouen, which hosted the general meeting of our cluster, has been able to reinvent itself and, while meeting the challenges of the times, regain its attractiveness. It is an inspiration for Cosmetic Valley which, with its partners, public and private, and drawing on the wealth and dynamism of its members, is launching new projects to give the sector the means to succeed in its ecological, digital, geopolitical and technological, in order to maintain its world leadership. My presidency has no other goals ”.

The General Assembly was hosted by the Métropole de Rouen Normandie, in the Pavillon des Transitions, a place dedicated to ecology on the Quais de Seine.
