Ecodesign is a fundamental issue for the cosmetics industry, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of products throughout their life cycle . This starts with more responsible formulations, favoring natural, biodegradable and sustainably sourced ingredients, while excluding controversial substances.
Packaging plays a key role : the goal is to reduce its weight, use recyclable or reusable materials, and promote alternative formats such as refills or solid products. Logistics optimization and local production also help limit transport-related emissions.
In practice, brands are seeking to design products that require less water or energy, while raising consumer awareness of their impact. Innovation (biotechnology, digital traceability) makes it possible to create high-performance products while respecting the planet.
Through the ECODESIGN & IMPACT EVALUATION session of the Cosmetic Environment & Safety congress, explore how environmental footprint analysis can be a lever for performance and transformation, with a sequence dedicated to new test models for understanding content/container interactions.
