Cosmetic Environment & Safety Congress

After water management, dive into the heart of cosmetic eco-design!

Ecodesign is a fundamental issue for the cosmetics industry, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of products throughout their life cycle . This starts with more responsible formulations, favoring natural, biodegradable and sustainably sourced ingredients, while excluding controversial substances.

Packaging plays a key role : the goal is to reduce its weight, use recyclable or reusable materials, and promote alternative formats such as refills or solid products. Logistics optimization and local production also help limit transport-related emissions.

In practice, brands are seeking to design products that require less water or energy, while raising consumer awareness of their impact. Innovation (biotechnology, digital traceability) makes it possible to create high-performance products while respecting the planet.

Through the ECODESIGN & IMPACT EVALUATION session of the Cosmetic Environment & Safety congress, explore how environmental footprint analysis can be a lever for performance and transformation, with a sequence dedicated to new test models for understanding content/container interactions.

Lipids & Cosmetics Congress - Call for oral and poster presentations

Until September 10, 2025

The Lipids & Cosmetics congress will return to Bordeaux for its 5th edition, on January 28 & 29, 2026.

A major challenge for the industry, innovation in the field of lipids is at the heart of the Lipids & Cosmetics congress. Bringing together nearly 200 international participants, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, come and share your work, present your results or discover the latest initiatives in the field of lipids.

On this occasion, the Scientific Committee of the congress is launching a call for oral communications and posters on the following themes:

Innovation and science are at the heart of today's cosmetics industry, while ensuring the preservation of its historical and timeless values (safety, performance, well-being, etc.). Today, new challenges must be considered, such as naturalness, sustainability, inclusivity, and personalization. At the heart of this transformation, lipids play a key role: essential to the structure and protection of the skin, they are at the center of modern formulations, combining biological efficacy and respect for the environment.

The search for transparency and ethical solutions is particularly eagerly awaited by consumers who wish to better understand the composition of their products, their origin, and their safety for health and the environment. This quest is accompanied by a growing desire for traceability and reliable certifications. The sensory experience remains essential to attract, retain, and always better meet the expectations of an increasingly informed public. Thus, contemporary cosmetics is built at the crossroads of scientific expertise, ethical commitment, and sensory emotion. It is in this context that the Lipids & Cosmetics 2026 congress will be structured around 6 themes, centered on lipids and their applications for:

  1. Their biological properties
  2. Development of ingredients and raw material supply chains
  3. Formulation and sensoriality
  4. Their Processes & Design
  5. Their analyses and the characterization of their effects

Would you like to submit an oral presentation and speak at the next conference?

Planetary boundaries are the thresholds that humanity should not exceed in order to live sustainably in a safe ecosystem. According to IPCC researchers, as of 2023, six of these nine boundaries are considered to have been exceeded, and two are on track to be exceeded.

Faced with these developments, the industry is transforming, and the cosmetics sector , an industrial economic pillar of France, is playing its part by committing to an industry with positive impacts.

What better ambassador than the cosmetics industry to embody the integrated and unifying “One Health” approach: a single health for living beings and ecosystems, while maintaining Research, Innovation, and Safety at the heart of its developments.

The Cosmetic Environment & Safety 2025 conference will focus on presenting approaches and advances in terms of eco-design and impact assessment, particularly actions implemented to preserve water resources.

⏰ Stay tuned, the congress program will be coming in a few days.

Looking back at the 6th edition of the SENSORY congress

The 6th edition of the SENSORY congress was held on Thursday, March 20 .

A very successful edition, under the sign of conviviality, which brought together more than 160 participants who came to discover the latest advances in sensoriality.

In a world where speed and stress are omnipresent, sensory plays an essential role in bringing a sense of well-being to consumers . For the cosmetics industry, sensory represents a real differentiating asset and is at the heart of Research, thus making it possible to offer ever more innovative solutions.

After redefining the notion of experience , which appeals to our five senses, the delegates immersed themselves throughout the morning in the world of new technologies , now serving the beauty of understanding the consumer experience. The increasingly advanced mastery of neuroscience and AI now provides access to a better understanding of the brain-skin axis , in favor of more sensory and personalized cosmetics. The last conference of the morning reminded the delegates that sensory standards provide a framework for product and consumer safety.

These new tools also allow the development of new formulation techniques . After a conference on the skin and the importance of touch, the delegates were able to discover, in the afternoon, concrete applications in terms of formulation, methodologies, modeling, etc. Not forgetting the inspiring conference on the redefinition of the customer experience in the automotive world, ultimately not so far removed from the cosmetics world.

At the end of the day, the prize for the best poster was awarded to Céline LUCAS from the company ACTALIA SENSORIEL for her poster entitled "𝐼𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑖𝑒𝑟 𝑙𝑒𝑠 𝑑𝑟𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝑠𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑙𝑠 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑑𝑒 𝑏𝑜𝑜𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝑙𝑎 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑐𝑒𝑝𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑖𝑚𝑚𝑒𝑑𝑖𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑒𝑠.

  • Thank you to the 160 participants for their smiles and good humor
  • Thanks to the 15 speakers for their high-quality presentations.
  • Thanks to the 20 poster candidates presented at the congress
  • Thanks to the members of the Scientific Committee for their work in developing the program
